Rebates for Making Your Home More Energy Efficient
Black Hills Power Customer Rebate Program offers cash rebates to residential BHP customers for the purchase of electric water heaters, new generation electric and geothermal heat pumps and also Geothermal Heating and Cooling Systems. $25,000 to Make Energy Efficient Upgrades to Your Home or Business
Otter Tail Power Company's Dollar Smart Financing Program offers $150 to $25,000 loans to its residential and business customers. Customers may use the 7.9% interest rate loan to finance purchases of new electric technologies. Loans may not exceed 80% of the project's total cost, and the maximum residential loan is $7,000 with the exception of geothermal heat pump installations and combination electric systems such as a thermal storage central furnace with an air source heat pump, which are eligible for up to $12,000 in financing. Rebates are available for a variety of high-efficiency electric heating applications. 100% Property Tax Exemptions for Residential Customers
This exemption from taxes is for residential and commercial properties where renewable energy systems are installed. For residential systems the exemption applies to the entire assessed value of residential. Exemption may be claimed for three years after installation. Up to $10,000 Loans for Electrical Equipment
Southeastern Electric Cooperative offers a loan program for customers in the southeastern part of South Dakota who want to install energy efficient heating and cooling systems in their homes and businesses or for those who want to install weatherization measures such as storm doors, insulation or caulking. Loans are available at 5% for Geothermal air-to-air heat pumps or electric heat up to $10,000 for 7 years and Geothermal air-to-air heat pumps, or electric heat under $5,000 financed for 5 years.  Loans are for weatherization & insulation up to $3,000 for 5 years.
